Supporting dyslexics in the classroom has become an increasing focus in UK education and HADC offers a range of courses to enable teaching professionals at all levels to gain recognised qualifications in dyslexia support.
The following annual courses conform to the QCA’s principle for higher-level vocational qualification and the QCA Common Criteria, and are designed to provide a route for continuing professional development for professionals working with specific learning difficulties in literacy and numeracy.
- NOCN Level 3 course for Teaching Assistants – a choice of two courses for Key Stages 1, 2 and 3, or Key Stage 4
- OCR Certificate Level 5 in teaching learners with specific learning difficulties (dyslexia)
- OCR Diploma Level 7, generally for those who already hold a Level 5 Certificate and wish to progress to being qualified to assess and recommend education programmes for those with specific learning difficulties

**This price assumes the OCR Certificate Level 5 qualification is already held and that accreditation for prior learning (APL) has been given for Unit 5, comprising two teaching practices. If the recent OCR Certificate Level 5 qualification is not held, then a further charge of £800 will be made to cover the extra tutorial time needed to cover the two teaching practices for Unit 5. This £800 will entitle the candidate to up to 20 hours tutorial time, which may take the form of marking, observation, email/telephone/face-to-face tutorials and/or contact. Candidates will not be permitted to start their extra teaching practices without prior consent and agreement from their tutor. If a candidate fails to achieve the required criteria at the end of the 20 hours tutor support, then an hourly fee of £80 per hour for tutor time will be made.
